why isnt linux booting?

okay so i built a computer and it posted. i didnt want to spend $100 and buy windows 10 so i downloaded a very light distribution of linux to boot off of because my hardware is terrible. it should be able to run 64 bit puppy linux http://puppylinux.org/main/Overview%20and%20Getting%20Started.htm and i used rufus to turn my usb with the puppy linux iso file to a bootable usb but it isnt booting the system.

it is booted, i think you meant to get linux that has a UI like windows 

 

i dont use linux but when i did one the one i used looked that too. it was all text based

 

so idk if that one is or not it just looks like its text based to me from that pic

does the one you downloaded have a UI? some do some dont, ive only used a text based linux so idk

No, Puppy has a UI. I don't know of any Puppy version or fork that is CLI only

OP, why don't you try Lubuntu or Xubuntu instead? Puppy isn't the best distro for general use, and I'm sure your PC can handle a heavier system

it has a duel core 1.6 ghz cpu celeron cpu and 2 gigs of ram. any recommendations?

You don't have to torrent them? And are you saying free torrent clients are bad or that free Linux distros are bad? I'm confused, sorry. You can download the ISOs straight from the website.

Torrents aren't bad. They are just like any other download. People just use them to pirate so everyone runs when they hear torrent. I suggest Xubuntu

i have tried tons of different versions of linux and they all boot but none of them have a UI. what am i doing wrong. im turning the iso files into a bootable flash drive with rufus.

I know some need you to type to start the UI on Kodi you type kodi-standalone so try searching for that

I'm confused here as well. For one, I don't know why they're booting to a C prompt (does every distro you've tried go to that exact screen from the picture?)  instead of a TTY asking you to log in at least. This may be a dumb question, but you do have a GPU, right? And are you sure you burned the USB the right way? I don't really know what could be going wrong. Maybe even try a different USB  drive.
