This build is meant to be semi-budget bad-ass, with the 10 core Xeon. It would be used for home, games, and some light workloads (no video editing/rendering etc.). Questions: What do you think? Can the motherboard be different without impairing the xeon in a big way (it seems a bit pricey)?  What 2/3 tb hard drives should i get for raid? Any other comments? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Here is my current part list:

Intel Xeon E5 2670 v2                                       used       ~£140.65

Asus P9X79 WS                                                used       ~£307.20

Corsair H100i v2 240                                               new       £89.98

Kingston HyperX Beast 2400 DDR3 2x8GB)                  new       £80.29

EVGA SC ACX 2.0 GTX 980                                          new       £394.92

Corsair RMx 650w                                                        new       £85.29

Cooler Master Master Case 5                                     new       £62.94

HyperX Savage SATA 3 2.5" 240GB SSD                   new       £85.34

2 x 2TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive for raid (suggestions please)       new       ~£100--£150 max (for both)

thats mostly because those xeons are being tossed out second hand by the hundreds around this time by datacenters that are upgrading, but i can guarantee you theres not a single datacenter out there running asus WS boards.
