Intel or AMD?

Which (processor) do you prefer and why? Please do not make a big commotion, I'm not trying to start a war here but I'm just curious on what people's interests are.

Intel because their products aren't six years old. If you desperately need virtualisation on the cheap AMD is good. Otherwise...

depending on what you do and what your budgets are

currently, amd chips are the best low budget chip if you need multithreaded performance

if you have higher budget, intel is the way to go for multithreaded performance

 

gaming wise... intel wins due to single core performance

well there are factors, if its like a sub $100 ill go AMD if its above $100 ill go intel

Intel in any situation because with deals and combos, Intel will be the best for every budget.

Intel processors supporting AVX 2 only (core i-series from Haswell onwards). Everything else is a bit slow regardless of the price. Waiting to see if Zen will be any better as the only hope on Intel's side for a significant future performance boost is AVX512 which is apparently only going in Xeons.
