Raspberry Pi Powered DAC

Hello all!

I have a Raspberry Pi Zero casually lying around doing nothing, and after looking at high end audio products I wondered if there was a way to turn a Pi/Pi Zero into a DAC. I know it may sound really dumb, I'm just curious, that's all.

So you would rather me get a regular DAC (Like the Centrace from Massdrop)

Why do you even need a dac?

You could use it to host some Kind of Music Server i guess but you can't use it as a dac.

Probably a good idea. A Pi is more of a dev board for linux than anything else.

I was just considering one. If I could it with a Pi I thought it would be cool.

Good point. (I'm a pi crazy, so I do lots of stuff with Pi's)

It is possible, but not worth the effort or the money. Using it as a media server as suggested above is much more feasible.
