Hey everyone!

I have an Asus Essentio CM1745 with an AMD A-10 5700. I recently purchased a Cooler Master Vortex Plus air cooler and attempted to try to control the fan speed via the UEFI Bios Q Fan control option. (Asus Suite 3 is not supported on my system and fanspeed seems to have no effect on the fan speed). Yes, the cooler was installed correctly and the fan is plugged into the CPU_FAN 4-pin connection. When I am in the monitoring tab in the UEFI Bios I can enable/disable the q fan control for the CPU and Case fan, but after that I have no further options to alter the speed. I watched a video of someone using the UEFI Bios and when they enabled q fan it gave them more options to change the speed. I know something must be wrong because my CPU fan is stuck at 1000rpm and it CM claims it can go up to 2800rpm. If anyone knows why I cant control my fan speed with any software or bios options that I can think of, please tell me and help me find a solution!

All feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks and have a great day!

Matt

did you set it to pwm or dc control?

4 pin fan = PWM, 3 pin = DC

thats the specs for the cooler. tell me if im wrong but thats a pwm fan on it and its plugged into the 4 pin connnector on the mobo labeled CPU_FAN. So idk whats wrong?

if its a 4 pin fan then you can set it to pwm in the Q-fan control

see the top right of the picture? (not sure if yours is the same though)

This video is actually a very close version to mine. But when I click "enable" for q-fan control, those other options dont drop down below it. And the only option on the actual speed of the fan is "monitor" or "ignore". Is it a Bios bug?

So I sorta found a solution/work around. I went back to the bios, disabled q fan control, saved/reset, went back to the bios and the cpu fan speed reported at 2800rpm. So it looks like I have two options now, 1000rpm or 2800rpm. Maybe thats the only levels on the cpu cooler fan? idk? but i already ordered a noctua a9 pwm so maybe that will give me more options when i enable q fan control. Noctua says it has 3 speed settings so it should be a valid test.

you should be able to control it to whatever rpm you want

though not sure if your motherboard supports it
