Can I use 2 pcie 6pin connectors for something that has 2pcie 8pin slots? Or is this a bad idea?

Bad idea, but you can get 2x molex to 8-pin adapters

6 pin is rated at 75W max

8 pin is rated at 150W max

 

so 2x 6pin to 1x 8 pin is still viable, 1x 6 pin to 1x 8 pin is a fire hazard

Which is why I am confused you can buy 6 pin to 8 pin adapters.
It really just doesn't make sense. But it's probably why they are only $1.

In these 6+2 connectors all the power is still going through 6 cables the ground is just duplicated at the plug. I dont get why they dont just make the connector 0.1 mm thicker and fix this that way.
