I have a 550w PSU which has 2x 6pin connector that are both in use for my current gpu, but I just ordered a gpu that requires just 1x 8pin which my PSU doesn't have. Is it possible for me to get an adapter for that without having to get a new PSU, because I can't afford one right now?

GPU's nowadays tend to come with a 6-to-8-pin adapter, so yea. They exist and they wont really bottleneck anything, really.

Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but you dont know why. In this computer, theory and practice are combined: Nothing works and i dont know why.

Atleast i can manage Some things, like my current OC personal best.

you can adapter it but its not recommended, and might cause your PSU to die or worse, catch on fire, or kill other components with it

if your psu doesnt come natively with those pins, its not supposed to support those wattages

6 pin = 75W

8 pin = 150W

and thats just on the 12v rail

if you wanna swap GPU, you can get dual 6pin to single 8pin, but again, totally not recommended

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
