ATH-M50x DAC

reystar

Hey guys

I want to upgrade my headphones, i currently use a razer headset that i want to replace...i am looking at the ATH M50x...

My pc has an onboard sound card so i am looking for a DAC too...which one would you recommend?

I also use speakers, so i need kinda a switch interface that i can switch from headphones to speakers and the other way around!

you can get DT 770's or 990s (990 is openback)

They have much better sound quality, I think the 770's the 80 ohm edition you won't need a DAC but the 250 ohm's one you should

What motherboard do you have? It's probably more than fine.

Indeed? I have this exact motherboard and it sounds identical to my Macbook and Fiio E10K; even the Schiit Magni 2U sounds about the same.

All this is with the Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro. No idea if the story would change with the more difficult to drive Hifiman HE-560.

If you have those, why are the M50x's even a consideration?

Also, perhaps something is awry with your audio drivers on your desktop.

vmoda= bass, they are basshead headphones, I really hope that no studio uses them for anything important. The custom one pro, can be basshead headphone, but also more "neutral(ish)". What kind of signature do you like? Because all of the headphones you just found their have very different signatures.

So guys back to my thing!

I read a lot that the Sen's HD 598 dont have a punchy bass, which is bad for my taste, i kinda like bass, a lot actually (i use beats a lot on the gym)...

what about the 558? 558 vs 770 or maybe 880? what i am looking is perfectly clear sound with rich highs/mids and deep punchy bass

The HD 558 sounds 100% the same as the 598 and the bass is tight.

The dt 770 are the ones with the most bass.

They're not 100% the same, Sennheiser aren't retards.  And the budget greatly exceeds the cost of the 598s anyway, no need to save money for an amp that won't be needed

Ssshh he will smile when he dies from sibilance ;)

Some people says that the Brainwavz Angled Memory Foam Earpad helps the headphones. It's not easy to find bass focused headphones with rich highs/mids, I would say the HD 650 but they cost 325€ on sale, maybe the Philips X2 Fidelio.

But the 650 are realyl really good, why does looks matter?

The DT 770 have more bass than the DT 880, but the DT 880 has a bigger soundstage.
