Ok so basically I just bought a new computer with an intel i5 6600k and while in shipping, something on the cpu cooler got bent and now it does not / cannot (I've tried to fix it) sit on the cpu properly. When idle the cpu is usually around 75 degrees celsius and then when gaming, even though it does throttle I think i can play basic games, its running at 90 degrees celsius. So my question is, should I just leave my new computer while I wait for the new cooler to ship or am I ok to play those basic games that keep it around 90 degrees?

90 degrees is pushing it, and since the cooler is broken I wouldn't risk it.

90 is a tad on the high side so I would be safe and just wait for the new cooler. Better to not risk anything and have an idle computer than break something more expensive.
