GTX 1070

XdoniasRadeon

Do you think the gtx 1070 will be as powerful as the gtx 980ti and do you think it will come with 6GB of GDDR5X vram?

My guess without having read up too much is it will place itself like the 970 did. 970 was a little better than 780. The 1070 will lickely if Nvidia sticks to their performance increase per generation ratio be like the 980. I doubt it will beat the 980TI though, its gonna be a little below that in performance.

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

Likely a 980-level card. Though it will cost more than a 980 I expect

If the previous generation is anything to go by, it will likely cost the same as a 970 with performance close to a 980 though, basically 1070 and 1080 will replace 970 and 980 pricing slot

Considering the 1060 price is rumoured to be 300$, I'd say not likely

I seriously doubt that... 970 sit at around 370$ mark and will likely drop at least 50 to 100$ when 10xx come out, so I doubt Nvidia would put something like a 1060 so close to a 970 new price unless it perform around the same as a 970. And even if it do like a 960 compare to a 770, the 770 was 300$ and the 960 is around 200$, so I think around 250$ make more sense for a 960

Few things

1 - the 970 is being discontinued so it won't really be available for much longer after the 1070 releases
2 - the 960 came out at 250$ initially but because of extremely negative reception got cut to 220$ - 380 is selling at 170$ and Nvidia still refuse to drop the 960 price bellow 200$ - they have enough blind followers to place a 1060 at 300$
3 - 770 got abandoned to the point where the 960 beats it even tho the 770 is the better hardware

no and no.

Will be about GTX 980 of performance and will feature 4GB VRAM or 8GB to compete with the R9 390(x)

Hmm... I still dont think they will be dumb enough to put it at 300$ though, like you said 960 got cut down because of negative reception, and I think they would receive even more backslash if they plan a 1060 at 300$, meaning a 1070 would be around 400$ and 1080 would be around 600$, which put it too close to a 980Ti.

Remember that Nvidia made a lot of empty promises as well - like 32GB HBM2 and 10X performance which were both later debunked as semi-lies

It's true, but making false claim and being actually dumb and putting stuff at weird price/too close to the 980Ti are 2 different things though.

Meanwhile we're still waiting for AMD to actually put out a product good enough so that Nvidia cant do BS stuff anymore~

We already did - the 380 - it's 15% faster at 40$ cheaper and people still buy the 960

NOPE - 380 4G is usually 170$ and the 960 is 190-220$ - the 380X, which is 25% faster, is 230$

Hmm... sorted lowest to highest price on newegg, the 960 lowest price come at 170$ (2GB - EVGA), and the 380 lowest price come at 180$ (2GB - MSI) and 190$ (4GB - XFX). Just go on newegg and search it.

Yeah saw it already, still the same price as a 960 though (the 2GB ver, 4GB cost 10$ more at 180$) so it's not 40$ different. And I do agree that given the choice between the 2, ppl should go with 380, but so... what? AMD has always been more competitive on the lower performance/budget side, and I myself have always suggest my friend to buy an AMD card over Nvidia card at a lower budget, but at higher budget, enough for a 970 or 980... I just dont see much of a reason to go with any AMD's product, and Nvidia still have a clear lead in the market share, so when I said I'm still waiting for a card from AMD that can stop this whole BS from Nvidia I mean something that can actually stand on par with the top tier card from Nvidia and force Nvidia to have a more competitive pricing.

390 outperforming the 970? 390X performing almost as good as the 980 while being 100$ cheaper? Nano being more powerful and more efficient than the 980? Fury being more powerful than the 980? Maxwell is beat almost across the board

390 do NOT outperform the 970, 390X do not perform that close to a 980, Fury trade blows with 980 (some perform better by 4-5fps and some perform worse by 4-5 fps depend on which side the game belong to), Fury X is the one that can consistently beat 980 at 10+ fps different, but it also come at the same price as a 980Ti and 980Ti certainly perform better than Fury X

Speaking of which 970 come as low as 290$ now, 390 lowest is 300$, 390x lowest is 380$, 980 lowest is 430$, Fury lowest is 490$, 980TI 530$, Fury X is 580$

The 390 is most definitely faster than the 970 in nearly every test. It's also vastly superior in terms of DX12 performance - same goes for the rest. the 390X performs a little worse than a 980 but is still 60-70$ cheaper. Fury is much better, you need a serious OC on a 980 to match a Fury. 980 Ti is faster than a Fury X, yes, though only with DX11

The 390 is faster than the 970, only reason I don't own one was because I needed a very quiet gpu I've got a feeling I'll be going with AMD next upgrade if nvidia keep thinking they can charge a premium.

I believe the 1070 will be a bit better than the 980, and the 1080 will be a bit better than the 980 Ti.

As for memory, my bet is 8GB GDDR5 for the 1070 and 8GB GDDR5X for the 1080.

I am willing to upgrade to a GTX 1080 from my 780 Ti (which has been awesome all along). But if it is not good enough I'll wait to get either a 1080 Ti or whatever AMD has in stock for high-end Polaris.

GDDR5X is not ready yet - Nvidia only have access to standard GDDR5
