E:\ directory name invalied

i keep getting this message when i insert a disc into the disk drive and the drive wont play any disk 

ive tried updating the drivers any haven't installed any new software that should affect the drive

the drive letter is the same as its always been i haven't changed it

does any one now how to fix this?

Boot into safe mode and try it again. Run Malware bytes. Check for updates.

Has it worked before or is it new? What disk(s) did you try, not all optical disk are the same?

Have you checked the connections? 

Have you tried a 3rd party volume manager?

Are you running a virtual device by any chance, like daemon tools?  I had that issue once upon a time, if so just stop the daemon tools from running and it should be fine.
