USB ?

I have an 8gb USB that isn't being recognized. When I put it in to any usb port it make a noise and install drivers, but it doesn't show up on in my computer or anywhere else I check. Does anyone know how to fix a problem like this. I have looked around but nothing has worked. ( for reference this started one morning when I was using Microsoft Publisher and it crashed when I was saving work, which lead to file explorer crashing in an infinite loop).

run disk part in windows or check in disk management 

press windows key and R and type "diskpart" then type "list disk" and find your usb then type "select" and the name of your usb (it will be listed as something like disk 2) and after thay type "CLEAN". then open disk management and format usb 

My speakers dont even fit on or under my desk...PA's FTW

Thank you very much for your help. I wanted to retrieve the contents of the USB, but with this help I could find my way around it.
