Umm, what are you calling DSL?

DSL is for Digital Subscriber Line and most people now use ADSL (asyncronous), or VDSL (fibre either to the home or to the cabinet)

So, don't understand what you are trying to say when you say your mothervboard has no network adaptor... it must have either an ethernet or PCI adaptor or USB adaptor to get internet onto the unit.

I think they're meaning ethernet, and the 'network adapter' as Wi-Fi.

So I have built a new gaming pc with win 10 and I have yet to pick up Internet on it. I have to use DSL as my mobo has no network adapter. I have put my DSL into my mobo and the pc still does not pick it up. Does anyone know any reasons for this

Are you sure the cable works, and that it's plugged into the right port on each end, if that's indeed what you mean?

If you're going through switches, make sure they are all being powered properly.

Sig under construction.

Sorry I meant Ethernet and this ethernet cable works fine on other pcs but it shows orange lights on this one. I have it in the right port but how do I check if the port is being powered properly

Showing orange lights? That sounds to me that it's trying to communicate. Sounds fine.

You can be sure that the port on the switch/router is powered if you're able to use that port with other machines successfully.

I think the problem you're facing is that you need to install network drivers before you can connect to the network at all. I'd suggest using another computer to download the latest network drivers for the board to a memory stick, copying them across to the new computer, then install and see if it helps you out any.

As @Tedster said above, you are very well in the position that you don't have drivers you need. I would suggest going onto the motherboard manufacturers website, finding your exact board and downloading all the drivers for windows 10 version and putting them onto a USB drive of some sort and then going onto your new PC and installing the drivers from there. You may have to use a USB 2.0 port as sometimes the drivers for USB 3.0 aren't present either... but give it a try first if you like, then if you run into problems, try a USB 2.0 port.
