Plantronics RIG Surround?

Go to solution Solved by spwath,

Nope, cloud is much better.

Spec Page

Thoughts? Here in PH, it's the same price as a Cloud I.

The USB thingamajig looks interesting.

The 7.1 surround is software-based though so no point including that in the "value" of the product.

I own these. If you're looking for a mixer like the one included in the RIG, or if you're planning on using some other device to play music alongside(or if you want to answer phone calls) while playing, then it's nice. I've used several gaming headsets, various closed/open headphones, IEMs, powered desktop speakers, expensive car audio, etc. As far as sound quality goes, the presentation of sound is decent. I haven't tested these to find an actual frequency response curve, but they work well with both games and music. My biggest issue is that the microphone level is unbelievably low. If you're playing on a console, these will be just about unusable unless you're the kind of person who really yells in-game. On PC, with AGC enabled, this isn't an issue, and the microphone sounds fine.

They're both definitely entry level items, and if you aren't looking for the USB dongle's specific features, you might as well get the HyperX.
