Need suggestions on audio for challenge video

So I've been doing a lot of challenge videos on my channel lately, most of them I can use my LAV mic and everything is fine, BUT some of the messier ones (eat it or wear it challenge for example) i'm at a loss because I can't use my condenser mic or LAV mic. I record these outside so the audio is already terrible, any suggestions on how I could do this?

Would this pick up voices well from 4+ft?

Shouldnt be a problem. Shotgun mics are very directional. If you feel that distance may be an issue, you could always put it on a boom pole and then put it above your target audio with mic facing down.

Depends on your budget and camera.

Currently I'm using a camera without a mic jack, so I'd need either a usb or XLR one. I

i'm using a laptop/sound interface to record my audio and then just sync it at the end. 

 

The cheaper the better but I also don't want something that sounds awful. 

I'd say around $200 would be fine.

Rode NTG2, with something like a Zoom H1 or H4n.  Or use the mics on the external recorders.
