This is kind of a long story, but I'll try to keep it as brief as possible; Sometime several months ago, outta the blue my GTA 5 online became very laggy. More specifically, other people see me lag all over the place, but I see everyone else just fine. For example; If a friend of mine gets in my car, and I take off, after a few seconds, he sees me come to complete stop on his screen, or just crash into a wall and stop there, while on my screen, I'm flying down a highway. I love playing GTA online, and it's very upsetting that I haven't been able to enjoy it for the better part of 6+ months due to every other player seeing me lag/teleporting/rubberbanding.

So in light of this, I contacted Rockstar support to try and resolve the issue. I went back in forth with them for 4+ weeks and made NO PROGRESS! I was told to make sure that a certain set of ports were open before playing GTA online, but I am terrible with internet/networking, and software of any kind in general, so I didn't know how to do this. So I had a friend take control of my PC via Team Viewer to attempt some port forwarding, and try to open these ports, and it would appear it didn't work. I went to a website to check to see if these ports were open. They weren't. Every single port that Rockstar support told me to open were closed.

The ports that I was told to open was the following: TCP Ports: 80, and 443

                                                                                 UDP Ports: 6672, 61455, 61456, 61457, and 61458

Apparently the attempt to open these ports was unsuccessful, according to the port checker site I used. So, how do I open these ports?

I believe I have a modem, if that matters at all, and I am on a wired connection. My internet speed is 40 ping, 150 download, and 4.5 upload.

Also, here is a video my friend made while he was riding in my car, and what he is seeing

They would have to be opened on your routers port forwarding section.

You need to go into your router's configuration to open the ports. You'll be wanting to set your PC's IP to a static address and use that when port forwarding.

Just going into your router and forwarding the ports is not going to help if it's blocked by your operating system such as Windows firewall which you need to create exception rules first.

Ok, how do I create exception rules? Like I said, I'm pretty clueless with networking and software.

um why does rockstar want you to forward HTTP web server ports to your computer... On top of that why would port forwarding help you at all with lag... Sounds like bad packet loss or something, maybe UDP packet loss or out-of-order data streams?  I honestly have no idea why they'd want you to "open ports".

I don't know either. That's just what they told me to do, and at this point, I'm willing to try anything to get my GTA working properly again. I've exhausted everything I know to do over the last several months.

forwarding ports would be a solution if the thing didn't work at all, but opening and closing things doesn't make it faster.  Have you checked your router's QoS settings?

I have not. Where can I go to check that?

try entering 192.168.1.254 into your search engine. If that doesn't work check the side of your router to find out what IP it has. That will most likely display your router control panel.  Take a look around until you find QoS settings

I already have my modem's configuration page open actually. Here's a screen shot of what it says under "Quality of Service" : http://prntscr.com/auu4fz

I am running a wired connection though, so not sure why it's under "Wireless"

Fastest way is to disable Windows firewall so the ports are accessible by other computers then forwarding them to be accessible from the Internet.

I tried disabling Windows Firewall, but when I checked the ports again, they were still closed.
