so ive been considering trying to overclock my i7 950 to 4ghz or close to it but have a few questions before doing so. first off is the coolermaster D92 enough to accomplish this? second how much of a difference would i see between stock and at 4ghz?

what are your load temps before overclocking? you can get this information by doing a 10 minute load test in adia 64

54c is what it caps out at at 100% load

tj max on your cpu is 69 C, so just oc until you run out of cooling, you probably won't get to 4.0 GHz without an aio

from experience with a 2500k oc single core performance is changed quite a bit! so overclocking your cpu should be quite noticeable in performance terms, for an aio, the h80i and the h100i are good aios for overclocking and good luck!

also would the i7 950 at stock bottleneck 2 980s in sli? and would pcie 2.0 be good enough?

You have a really good board. You should REALLY consider spending $80 on an X5650 and OCing that instead. That will basically put you into 4790k and 5820K territory on performance for a cheap $80 upgrade.
