HTC Sync Not Working

I was just trying to connect my HTC One M8 (Verizon) to my computer to create a backup. However, when I connected my phone via the original USB cable, the computer recognized that it is connected, but HTC Sync manager didn't even acknowledge that the One M8 was plugged in.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
