CPU Temps

So I'm still a noob at this pc building thing and I'm about to begin overclocking my cpu. right now I still have the stock cooler on and I'm running Prime95; been running a little over an hour and its showing my cpu temp is 24c. I don't think this is close to correct as I'm running an 8320. Is it possible that this is right or should I download some other cpu monitor software?

You probably aren't stressing the CPU if it remains at that temp. That's low even for an idle temp since you are overclocked, heh. try more temp reading software like the ones mentioned above, HWMonitor, HWInfo, or try a different stress test like AIDA64 or Realbench.

AMD is known for wonky sensors. Terry a couple different programs, there no way in hell it would be that cool under that load

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

Use AMD overdrive to monitor your temps, they are shown as thermal margin. 70c is your thermal throttle temp on a FX cpu so if overdrive were to show 24c you would be at 46c, just an fyi.

can't be right. Stock cooler on a AMD CPU, while running prime95 should be insanely high temps. Like everyone else is saying, try different software for your temp readers. Also a few tips since you're new at this

1. For AMD, don't go over 60c. It can hurt your CPU.

2. Stock cooler is horrid for Overclocking, please don't.

3. Prime95 adds some voltage to your CPU, be wary of that if you ever add voltage for your overclock. (Tho it's not much that the program adds, it is enough to make my 8350 not be able to run prime95 at 4.6ghz without freezing my entire computer, when I can use other things just fine at 4.6ghz.)

4. Try getting a new cooler if you're Overclocking, even a 20-25 dollar air cooler is a few step up from the stock cooler. (Hell anything is, honestly)

I'm not overstocked yet, I am waiting to get a hyper212 Evo (coming soon). I'll definitely try other software.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll update after I get the software downloaded and run more stress test.
