Has anyone played Wasteland Workshop yet? Thoughts???

I stopped playing after January and got back into it briefly to beat the Automatron DLC (~3-4 extra). It was fun but once I was done I didn't feel the need to keep going. But this workshop one! It's like CRACK! When I first saw the announcement I thought it would be the weakest of the 3 announced dlc but I got so into it I ended up starting another new game and have already spent +4 hours building out Sanctuary (only stopped to get Preston and Ada).

Plus alot of the add ons have replaced the mods I've been using (planters, land well for water, concrete walls, etc.). My only negative thought so far is I wish they gave a tutorial or some guidance with the traps, taming animals, and arena stuff like Sturges does for settlement building.

[Of course I used commands to give myself building material - I think after 3 playthroughs I can cheat now lol]

Not worth the $5, imo. Though I'm not really opposed to it that much considering I'm one of those who bought the season pass when it was $30, so I can count it as a sort of throw away patch more than a bona fide DLC.

A lot of the things in it already existed as mods, as you said. Sure, it's nice that Bethesda decided to implement them officially, but still... it feels a little like paying for a mod. A mod I could get for free anyway. (this sounds familiar...)

I do like the whole build your own arena concept, but it also gets old pretty quickly. Watching AI fight AI isn't incredibly engaging, and if I wanted to fight animals, I could just go find them and fight them out in the wasteland anyway.

What I would have really liked to see them add were settlement themes or types. Something that allows you to populate a settlement with different kinds of settlers which changes the way the settlement functions. For instance, it would be interesting if you could assign a faction for any given settlement location and then that faction's NPCs populate it. Initiates, scribes, etc if you're a Steel Bro, synths and such if you're Institute, raiders if you want to become a raider king (I want this SO bad!), and so on. The NPCs of said settlements could then behave in different ways to make the settlements less generic.

It seems like a logical addition considering all of the gore bags and raider decorations and devious traps and institute items that you can use in your settlements. But why would I want to decorate a settlement with tons of evil-looking items if all of the people in said settlement are farmers?

"A picture is starting to form here... I wonder if it's accurate? Some pieces don't quite seem to fit. Or maybe I just don't like the way it looks."

Yeah, it replaced a lot of the mods I had installed but I take that as a plus. Some of the mods I used were updated (poorly) or switched things up (like removing pieces on the mod) which messed with my save files. I'd fast traveled to a settlement I used mods for and half of the walls. etc were missing since they got removed from the mod. At least these are officially in the game so I don't have to worry as much.

I agree, they should have added themes and stuff (they had a basic version of that with houses in FO3 and Skyrim). I also think it would be cool to have mini-vault like settlements. Some of the settlements are badly laid out or small. It would be cool to have prefab vault options were all you see above ground is a man hole or cellar door and when you enter it's a decent sized vault. WE NEED TO SEND OUR IDEAS TO BETHESDA!

Also $5? This is the company that charged $3 for just horse armor :P At least the 3rd DLC is suppose to be major so it will make up for the other 2 for early pass buyers.
