are xeons or i7s better for dx12 gaming?

Yes well you basicly pay $200,- extra for just 12 direct pci-e lanes.

Which you most likely never gonne use.

 

To me the 5930K doesnt realy make a whole of sense for most people.

Unless you realy need those extra lanes for something special.

That will be the smartes bang for buck choice yes.

Hence basicly even the 6700K Skylake Z170 would do perfectly fine with dual gpu setups.

But yeah the 6 core 5820k might be handy in some other productivity area´s.

For a 390X nope.

For a dual TitanX maybe, but i dont think that even a dual TitanX will be bottlenecked that much.
