going off of a $1200 budget. Any changes any of you would make?

Can you go with a 240gb SSD and delete the 1Tb hard drive, at least initially? 

 

I'd even tell you to go onto eBay and pick up a $60 240gb Intel 520 SSD used, rather than a 120gb model.

Maybe switch from the 970 to a R9 390, and perhaps u could replace the RMx PSU with the EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W one and save a few bucks and still having a top quality PSU

I'm just planning on using the ssd for Windows so it'll boot up faster, but I could do what you said

The problem with the 120gb size nowadays is that there are so few chips (ie: R/W channels) on them that they are dramatically slower than their higher-capacity cousins, or even previous models that used less dense chips.

I'd much rather go with nvidia and corsair for parts that I can, thanks for the input though

I guess your right, maybe upgrade it to a 240gb and keep the 1tb?

I'm willing to make changes, just not to certain things, like Radeon and such
