Safe to remove speaker?

FAQBytes

Alright, imagine you're looking at a motherboard. See the little round speaker? Imagine that's attached to a front panel.

Alright, so here's my real question.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a server, but the beeping coming from that speaker messes with me and I can't focus with it beeping. Is it safe to remove it or would it cause additional problems?

Thanks in advance.

No problem. Yank it out.

Alright, I figured, but was just wanting to make sure. If need be I can put it back in or replace it with an equivalent resistor.

umm.. the beeping is supposed to help you to find what's wrong with the system:

and yes you can disconnect the speaker if it really disturbs you

No, the world is gonna explode.

Yes, it's perfectly safe to remove it but keep in mind that you won't be able to receive error codes after you do this.

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

It'd be nice if was an actual code, but as you read, it's not on the motherboard. I looked what I could up, and already knew what it was telling me. Something was wrong... It's a front panel speaker, and there's already a led for that.

Luckily it has LEDs to tell me that something's wrong as well, I just don't need the additional deafness.

Ahh, thanks. Almost made a horrible mistake. Might have bricked it if I didn't see this.
