Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a pre-built system for a family member.

Budget: Max $1000 preferably less

Possibly, I'm just not sure if the price to performance is there. I'm looking for something to last a while.

well pre-built pc do allow for upgrade paths, but being a family pc i doubt you'll be upgrading it often anyway lol

the intel NUC is fine for day to day computing, light gaming should be fine too (facebook games `-`)

If I were you , I'd pick up that Acer from Bestbuy and buy a 250 gb samsung evo SSD. Use the ssd as the boot drive. Since there is no gaming, no need for dedicated gpu. If they do start playing some games, throw in a gtx 750 or something cheap along those lines. PSU might be a future issue if they decide to upgrade the GPU though.

Main Rig: CPU i7-4790k / MOBO Asus Z97-Pro (Wifi-AC) / RAM 16GB HyperX Fury 1866 MHz / CPU COOLER Dark Rock 3 / GPU Asus GTX 1070 Strix  / CASE Evolv ATX Tempered Glass / SSD Crucial MX200 250GB / HDD  WD Black 1TB + WD Blue 3TB / PSU EVGA 750G2 / DISPLAYS 2x Dell U2414h / KEYBOARD Corsair K70 RGB Cherry MX Brown / MOUSE Logitech G602

Laptop: Dell XPS 15 / i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, GTX 960m, 1080P Display

I think you hit the nail on the head. I actually had both of those items in my cart already debating to check out.

You'll need a sata cable if you dont have one lying around, but other than that you should be all set.
