This has probably been asked many times before by many diffrent people but im torn so im gonna ask anyway

So i recently got bitten by the upgrade bug and bought myself a 980ti with my Samsung 34" s34e790c monitor and running with 3440x1440 resolution, but with upgrades comes the NEED for performance, im wondering if i should buy another 980ti for sli or should i wait for the consumer "gaming" card in the pascal line? Is the pascal cards really gonna "destroy" the 980ti/titan x to the degree that people are claiming?

Any answers/advice is welcome =)

is it really that much improvement? what is it running on? unicorn dust?

Thats my estimate using flops that are reported by nvidia on the new p100 chip used in the new tesla and comparing it to the new the titan black. The pascal chip has a higher tdp at 300 watts compared to 250. Gpu boost and overclocking is unkown at this point. When you are able double the number or transistors you can get lots more performance(and fp64 aswell).

Werent they gonna make the tdp for both pascal and polaris like really low? they showed us a video at CES i think where they compered one of they cards with the 950, TDP per performance and it was like 70~80 W at 60 fps

Yea the low end parts will have a low tdp, but the big gpu's will still suck 300w, but will be 50% more efficient which is what matters in servers.

Heres a video about it, but wont that mean that you could have more power and better performance. Lets say if this is low end this could mean that the low en would be ~970 390 performance

EDIT: and about ~980 390x overclocked?
