Hello all this is my first post. Hopefully I follow all the rules.

My Setup
Mobo:Gigabyte x58a-ud3r
PSU: Antec CP 850 (850w)
Mem: OCZ DDR3 3x2GB triple channel
GFX card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5770

Short version: No post/black screen on monitor/no display, GPU failing possibly or Mobo with a few bent pins.

My computer has been intermittently shutting down, i.e, in the middle of a game. and upon restart, my comp does not POST. I receive the "No video signal detected" from my monitor. What I usually did to resolve the issue was to reseat the GPU, reset CMOS, and it came back to life. However this time, nothing has worked. I do not have a speaker to check for POST sounds unfortunately :(

When I boot my system up after a no video crash, the GPU fan speed immediately jumps to 100% and remains there. (usually it would jump to 100% and then spin down after the computer POSTs)

I am also unable to try parts elsewhere or exchange parts for testing with anyone sadly.

It was working fine for quite a while  but just recently it decided to be tricky.

I cannot figure out if my Graphics card is dying or whether my mobo is on its last legs.

MyGPU does not show any LED lights for troubleshooting for some reason.

I did bend a few pins/contacts (whichever you use) on the mobo a year or two back but never had any problems till now.

Steps taken so far:

I followed the guides in the forums as carefully as possible.

Made sure PSU isn't dead. (Fan still spins and computer lights up etc)

Ran the system barebones, nothing plugged in but ram and gfx card but still no POST.

Replaced thermal paste on GPU following guide in other post on LTT

I think thats everything.
Thank you!

If you need pics etc I will be happy to provide

You have any other GPU you can try?

Before you spend money, do you have another PC you can test the card in?

Then you'll have to get another video card unless your friends have a computer you can use.

If you have a PCI (not PCIe) slot available, you can get one of those cards.

If you feel that the 5770 isn't providing performance to your satisfaction, upgrade now. The 9000 video cards from AMD are being supposedly announced on the 25th of this month, so you may want to wait till then to consider upgrading.

My 5770 lasted about 3-4 years which isn't bad. I should be okay with my 850w PSU. Yep I have all the cables. I think I have too many cables actually haha. Antec was generous with their wires. The card I've had my eye on is the Sapphire Radeon HD 7870, so i'll probably just get that.

9000 series. 8000 series is a re-branded 7000 series. Go to Google and type in Radeon HD 8000 series. AMD's website should appear to go to the page for it.

I got a new graphics card. The sapphire hd radeon 7870. Plugged it in with two 6 pin power cord slots since it has two. However the fans on the card wouldn't even spin up. Does this mean i dont have enough power? The card said a minimum of a 500watt psu was required. I have 850watts so I'm not sure thats the problem.

Your PCIe slot is dead.
