Hello LTT,

I was wondering if this would be a good water-cooling loop for the money. No OC-ing, Just like the aesthetics and want low noise. Please DON'T say that I should get an AIO or air cool. Thanks!!

Loop:

XSPC RayStorm DDC Photon EX240 WaterCooling Kit

http://www.performance-pcs.com/xspc-raystorm-ddc-photon-ex240-watercooling-kit.html

EK-FC R9-290X - Acetal+Nickel (Rev.2.0)

https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-r9-290x-acetal-nickel-rev-2-0

+ 2 additional EK fittings for GPU. I could probably add a 120mm for the CPU and dedicate the 240 for the GPU, but IDK.

Parts:

XFX R9 390 (Yes I used EKs cooling configurator and this card IS compatible with the 290x block.)

i5 4590

NZXT 340

You'll get MORE noise than air cooling would generate. But it does look cool (pun possibly intended)

Ok thanks. Not so sure about the noise part because my XFX card has a horribly loud fan and is always reaching 80c.

Im pretty sure that that pun was intended :P

The more noise is not true. If you don't overclock, you can set your fan speeds to the lowest or even off.

That kit includes a DDC pump, and while it's a pretty good pump it is not very quiet. The D5 is more powerful, and probably a little overkill, but will certainly produce less noise. Plus the D5 pumps tend to have a longer life span than the DDC.

If you can swing it get a d5 pump. They're much much higher quality and are also much quieter. Other than that just quintuple check the number and angle of fittings you need, the amount of fluid you'll use, and the amount of tubing you need.

Thoe xspc fittings are great, I use them, really really tight with primochill tubing.

I don't know how much space your case has but I think it fits a 280 rad, id do that. And put another rad on the top or back, I'd get the xspc clear for those fittings, and an alphacool xt45 280mm push pull if it fits, and a set of venturi hp14 fractal fans, I have the nf a14 iPPC noctua fans and they having a buzzing sound at low rpm

Actually what is the cheapest D5 you know is good?

Like cheaper than 100$

I have the xspc photon d5 vario, almost silent in highest setting, I'd look for a kit with that, I tried a ddc but it's too loud

My d5 is not quiet, but mostly vibrations i guess. Need to isolate it more.

The only sound I hear is the pump kinda humming, no vibration, but my xspc d5 170 photon combo has two rubber pads on the mount, set at 5, haven't lowered it yet
