Nope, is not reccomend.

^ dont say no `-`

i would say,

few situations will happen

1) it'll post and run in single channel

2) it wont post until you put the other ram in the other channel

3) it wont post at all

4) it'll post and run in dual channel (very unlikely)

1 being the most likely while 4th being the most unlikely to happen

its recommended you buy not only the same brand and model, but you buy DUAL CHANNEL RAM KITS

ram that comes in pairs for dual channel config or QUAD CHANNEL RAM KITS for quad channel motherboards

when it comes to ram, theres no 100% sure it'll work together, even if they're from the same brand, same model, same batch, but different packaging lol

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

as long as the timings and speed are the same it'll work usually, also the size matters if you want dual channel. If it's not the same speed or timings though the computer will usually match the speed of the slowest module. I've had that issue in the past, and mixed kingston with crucial in a laptop, it wotked fine (same size/speed/timings). Although I'd recommend just matching them but it might not be needed. RAM has been more flexible since around the DDR2 days

As long as the speed and timings are the same - YES/maybe. However I have found that no matter what the hell I use, It has always worked whatever I put in my machine or others. Personally, it isnt something to worry about unless you are using ddr(1) which isnt as flexible as ddr2 and anything above that (ddr3 and ddr4)
