WD blue 1tb or WD green 2tb ? confused :/

my old Samsung CD103SI HDD bought in 9.8.2012 is dead today  not entirely but my pc seems to be pick but cant access the dri

fortunately my system is on a Transcend 128g SSD though and had an extra WD blue 1tb for backup purpose

so frankly speaking i will buy a drive soon

but which one cant confirm yet i have selected two drives of same manufacturer  plz let me know which one is best as i will use that drive for bigger archieves like photos , videos , movies and many games , i wont be bothering with the speed unless it runs cool n quiet and performs considerably better  and i am prefering space over speed though but still needs suggestion as usual

1. WD blue 1 tb

Basically, WD Green is a more archival sort of storage, whilst WD Blue is more quick storage. If you aren't going to access the files often, WD Green is right for you. If you want to access them from time to time, WD Blue is a safer bet.

WD Green I have a WD green 2 TB and it works great, is quiet and speed isn't an issue if you don't boot from it.

I can confirm, I have some WD Greens (500 GB) and some WD Blues (250 GB). I use them mainly for old file storage, and things I don't access often. Out of the two, I'd go for WD Green, because it is cheaper and I really can't feel the difference when I actually do decide to access the files.

 

That being said, if you used them more, and if you plan to do a lot of heavy file transfers, you might fell the difference.

Go for blue. It's fine. Green is fine for dumping stuff onto just to keep it there but it's not good for everyday use. Especially if you have your OS on it. It's too slow and fairly unreliable.

Blue is made to be the middle ground between green and black, it offers higher transfer speeds than green and produces more noise while consuming more power. Green is the quiet, cheap and slow solution while being the most economical at same time. 

If you don't care about speed and only want storage green is the way to go. 

What are WD Blue 2TB prices? If you transfer lots of files you might appreciate the extra speed, also iirc Green has lower reliability than Blue.

no it is not that slow. I play games off of mine and I feel no difference from playing from it vs my 7200 rpm drives. just don't use it as a boot drive, any 5400 rpm drive is bad for a boot drive.

i wont bother unless the speed is below 10 mbps  but i am in need of more space as i have games and stuffs of over 700 gb  so reliability and space are viable options for me i presume

I get about 150 MB/s from mine max, 75- 80 MB/s is more constant.

I know, I was basically just saying it in case another person looking for the same kind of information reads this post sometime because of a googlesearch or w/e and to keep commentators off my back.

oh and by the way if you read stuff like that someone's WD green died after a power outage or w/e. if you search for it you'll find one with a WD black that died after a power outage as well, power outages come in different ways and some of them send a jolt of electrical surge which basically causes the outage and those kind of outages are usually the ones that take harddrives with them. power surges are evil.
