Looking for advice. I play a game that pulls mostly CPU proformance a very basic graphics card is required. However the game is only optimised for one core, it leaves the other cores mostly untouched. So I'm looking for a cpu with a really high clock speed. Which cpu would be most suitable for this. Don't really mind if it's Intel or amd.

as for what processor now have the strongest single thread performance

the skylake processors, if you dont need lots of threads, the i3 6100 is a solid option

though i recommend getting an i5 6400 or i5 6600 for better multithreaded workload

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

A high clock speed doesn't matter.  What you want is instructions per second.  Which is a combination of "IPC" and clock speeds.

Anything Skylake will give you the best IPC, and Broadwell will give you the best clock speeds (of anything close).  As far as which one yields higher single core performance...  I'd have to say Broadwell probably gives you the highest pure performance, but I'd still go Skylake.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!
