Hi Everyone

I'm helping my friend build a PC for his brother, he says that the most demanding game he will play will likely be ARK Survival Evolved. He has a budget of $2000 but the cheaper the better. He already has a keyboard, mouse, headset and a 1080p monitor that he will use. I have put together this build in PCPartPicker and was wondering if anyone can give me any feedback.

Thanks Josh Mercer

don't buy a kingston SSD

a 390 is going to be faster than a 970, give you 125% more VRAM, save you money on a free-sync vs G-sync display, and actually gains performance from DX12, unlike maxwell cards, which don't look like they have the hardware support for DX12.

Also where did you budget go? $1200 for the 6500+390 here

and if you're going to buy windows don't buy an OEM key as they only work once basically, and in addition the home version locks your ability to control security updates if I'm not mistaken so consider going pro.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

1) if thermal and acoustic isnt an issue to you, use the stock cooler and see how it goes before buying an aftermarket one `-`

2) for skylake i always recommend hyperx or vengeance lpx rams, compatibility issues

3) the 970 is... a bit iffy, i recommend getting an r9 390 now, or wait for pascal to launch

4) HOLY CRAP GET THAT PSU AWAY FROM THAT RIG

5) you can get windows at microsoftsoftwareswap subreddit

6) and oh yea, the v300 is bad, but you already changed it lol

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Here is what I've changed it to trying to listen to everyone's suggestions, I kept the CPU as a 6600 not a 6500 because he want's that, I chose this motherboard  because it supports crossfire and the case he likes the look of. Anything else anyone thinks I should change.

And I've also changed the power supply so that if he gets a second graphics card it will be powerfull enough.

Don't. A stronger single graphics card is ALWAYS better than a dual GPU solution.
