  • Drawboard PDF is really useful if you want to annotate PDFs. It's much better than most other PDF readers
  • Make sure you've got the latest office suite
  • Use Internet Explorer (smoother scrolling and about twice the battery life because it's lighter)

You mean Microsoft Edge, right?

I've never heard someone reccommend the ACTUAL Internet Explorer. You're actually serious...?

Yes, I am a dedicated FireFox/Chrome user on my desktop, where it doesn't matter that my browser's using 40% CPU when watching videos, but on my Surface (I have a Pro 3), the fan comes on when I'm scrolling or watching videos. Cut to IE, the scrolling is smoother on the touchpad (smoother than a mac) and the fan will never kick in. I'll grant you that it's not as quick but since the Surface uses solid state storage, they're all about the same speed anyway and you're not going to notice a difference unless you measure it in milleseconds. Add-on support is poor too and add-ons crash sometimes if you use them so if you use loads of add-ons, IE isn't for you. If you just want to browse like everyone else though, IE is amazing.

I don't know, I think I might stay on Edge though.
