Is Lubuntu 15.10 a reasonable replacement for Windows 7?

I am using a Lenovo S110 laptop with Windows7 Starter and I am just using the machine mostly for studies, lowspec gaming and (again) mostly for watching movies.I dont use it online because we dont have an internet connection and a VGA monitor is connected since the laptop's screen is broken.Since lubuntu is a lightweight OS,can it reduce my sufferings for lagspikes and finally have my laptop get smoother results?

Specs

Intel Atom N2600 1.3GhZ

1GB RAM

Intel HD Graphics

Also,I have been thinking of dual booting my system with lubuntu 15.10 and WindowsXP,(lubuntu for movie streaming and school things and WindowsXP for lowspec gaming)but can my system handle such things?

You know XP is super sketchy now, right? I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole anymore. I even refuse to sign into the few laptops at my high school still running XP. And like @thekeemo said, you aren't playing any games on that thing.

Lubuntu will be fine as long as you're willing to learn how to use Linux imo. I picked up Linux fairly quickly.

Yes it is.

But for gaming, sorry no.... Besides, Microsoft has ended Windows XP's support so it's going to be vulnerable.

Just now, graphicseater said:

What if i dualboot Zorin Lite and Lubuntu 15.10?

In my opinion, there's no point dual booting Zorin Lite and Lubuntu, they're both Linux. Just use one of it that suits you better.

As an avid Lubuntu user, I can say it's perfect. It's pretty barebones and looks like Windows XP but it is amazingly fast :)
