Last week i installed xubuntu on my laptop, replacing Windows 8.1 as my daily OS. However, i am an active filmmaker and video editor so i need a decent video editing program to compensate unavailability of the Premiere Pro on Linux. Multitrack, curves, transitions, color correction and some other things are crucial. I have already tested Cinelerra but unfortunately it kept crashing everytime i play the media on it. Lightworks didn't even showed it's GUI. Openshot isn't really for me. I want to try Kdenlive later but can you guys recommend me some other good video editor or maybe a distro that can run cinelerra smoothly?

Please do not include Avidemux or something like it....

Well, maybe worth trying for...I once tried blender a year ago on its sequencer to edit one of my video in Windows. But i still confused to navigate around it..., maybe i will check youtube for tutorials.

And BTW, is there any video editing programs that supports keyframing like on Premiere Pro? Because i like to do things manually...

There is a GNU/Linux version of DaVinci Resolve 12. Sadly, I think the free version is OS X and Windows only. But you might be able to *cough* "borrow" *cough* the full version for a while before deciding if it is good and worth the price or not.

I also give my vote for Blender.

I have explored many YouTube videos for blender tutorial, and tried to edit a short clip on it. But I found that the workflow is somewhat a little cluttered and lengthy, and it took longer for me edit compared to PPro. Such example are typing titles and text, which in order to do that the camera have to be setup first, background needs to be changed, and after some other process the text is rendered and brought into the timeline. This is why I don't expect Blender to fit most of my needs, especially for time. Time is money ;)

That would be a good option. But i challenged myself to stick with the linux option.

Okay, maybe Blender is my only option right now. The video editor seems to be good enough for me. I will try a month to see if i could stick with it.

BTW, is a specific distro affects the performance of video/audio editing?
