SSD+HDD >>> SSHD

the only reason to get an SSHD is if you have a laptop with only 1 drive bay and you cant afford a large SSD

The SSHD is a hybrid between an ssd and an hdd(if that wasn't clear enough). As for its performance, from what I saw on youtube, it performs like 1/2% faster than a regular hdd. The advantage of an SSHD is that the wear and tear that an HDD suffers over time is much lesser because of the internal configuration.

Other than that, the benefits over an HDD+ssd combo are pretty negligible.

It's a middle-ground between an HDD and an SSD. Basically, the SSHD uses either 8GB or 16GB of nandFLASH memory to cache the most frequently accessed files (such as an OS) and make access to them faster. For regular use it's like an HDD but for the OS, for instance, it's like a 10 000RPM WD Velociraptor HDD

its basicly a HDD with a built in "cache" SSD which trough some magical algorythm knows which files you need to access quickly.

ignoring that magic, i'm not really a fan of SSHDs because a lot of them tend to be slower RPM hard drives, making the cached files very snappy, but the non-cached ones are back to the 90's slow...

if you insist on getting an SSHD, make sure to get a 7200rpm model.
