Just show him some video about some amd cpu and tell him they are actually pretty good and you like them now : D

 

You should also tell him that he should create his own rig. If he is not willing to put some effort into building it, why should anyone else? And he'd see, that it is impossible to build a really good pc for $250 ._.

When you can get an i3-4170 for the same price as a 6300 with the same performance but with a better upgrade route... Also, the only AMD CPU I will consider atm is the x4 860k because a quad core for that much is a steal and a great pentium K replacement.

I think the x4 845 is kinda cool. It doesn't have the gaming performance intel chips have, but otherwise it's okay : D better than no competition for intel
