NVME on Rampage V Extreme

In a previous thread, I wanted to use 4 GPUs(2 different generations) for folding and that has been solved. Now I'm stuck with another problem.

Short of going for server boards, Is there anyway I can use an NVME SSD on a PCIe 2.0x4 slot or am I better off using a SATA SSD? This is because all my PCIe 3.0 slots will be populated by GPUs and they have dual slots I/O panels, I can't fit one into the PCIe 2.0 slot without chopping off something. The PCIE_X8_4 slot in the picture will be disabled if I use the M.2 slot that comes with the mobo.

Is there any riser cards I can use or am I really better off using a SATA SSD?

What motherboard do you have? Some ASUS boards can fit little cards in the M.2 slot and run a cable to the SSD. Not sure if it'll fit under a card though, and you have to have bought the 2.5" version of the SSD.

Might be a better question for the storage-specific sub-forums.

Thanks. I figured out that the NVME is not going to work if I have 4 cards in the board. I think I'll just stick to my old 840EVO.
