Are you having an issue where you get to pick what drives you'll install the OS to but it JUST doesn't work?  I had this issue and it somehow seemed to be an issue with the USB drive I was using.  I used a different model USB drive and it magically worked.

I have seen this with my Asus laptop, had to go in the UEFI and disable Secure boot, because the win 7 USB disc I have does not use it, after that it worked like a charm.

Secureboot shouldn't be an issue if it has booted from the USB already. Would defeat the purpose of secureboot.

So i finished building my pc today and when i attempted to install windows 7 via a usb i get a message saying it doesnt detect my drivers but in bios it detects them and idk what to do

Very simple problem.

Windows can't see your drives because it is unable to communicate with the SATA controller to detect them, and interact with them.

All you have to do is:

  1. Unplug your USB flash drive and plug it in another computer (yes it is fine to do this while in Windows 7 setup, the whole setup wizard is in your RAM, it will need it when it comes to extracting files and actually installing the OS)
  2. Go to your motherboard website, search for your motherboard under the support section, and download the latest SATA drivers. If you don't see them, look for "chipset drivers". Get the extractable setup (usually it is .zip file, and not the .exe file). It is sometimes referred as "(.inf)" in the name. You can't get the executable, because Windows 7 is not installed yet to be able to run .exe's, or even extract .zip files. Now that you have downloaded it, extract the files of the zip file into a folder, which you then put in your USB flash drive.
  3. Safely eject your drive, and take it back to your computer where you have Windows 7 setup running, and plug it in.
  4. Now, on the screen that says that no drive is found, you'll find a blue link, called "Load Drivers", click on it.
  5. Navigate to your USB flash drive, to the folder where you got the drivers extracted, and click OK.
Windows will search for the right drivers, and install them, and now the drives will be available.

Have you checked the driver list on the website of the motherboard manufacturer as there's highly likely to be a driver there that is required to be available when you get to that part so it can be loaded so that the drives do show up (this issue as far as I'm aware only surfaces when installing windows 7 using a USB stick).
