Hi,

i want to build something like this:

http://www.miningrigs.net/?product=graymatter-gpu-server-case-copy

Goal: Render-PC for Blender/Maya

Problem: Riser-Cable! A traditional riser cable  16x-16x has a max length of 20cm... now i found some with 50cm from 3M, but they cost 100$ each. And i am not sure if even 50 cm would be long enough.

At the mining rig (link!) there are USB3 1x-Riser cables - will they bottleneck significantly the rendering-performance of the GPUs?

Any other ideas?

Your best bet is the professional 3M ones for long lengths, there are more regular sized 30cm ones which are reliable just make sure the ones you get are shielded as that gives the best potential for success. Liheat on Ebay looked like they specialized in that stuff had some really long cables previously but it looks like they don't carry them anymore unfortunately.
