HHHEEELP SSD FULL FORMAT

A_Wild_SkyBear

I am using a Samsung 950 PRO -Series 512GB SSD and I just sold it. I am using it in the Razer Blade Stealth and need to fully remove everything off of the drive but I cant do it externally. Is there any way I can remove all my data while the drive is still in my PC???

Please help!!!

Get a linux usb disk and run dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdx(insert your driver letter here, probably a, check with fdisk -l and find the drive with the same capacity.

Download and stick this on a USB - http://www.dban.org/

When it starts (bootable USB) just type in "Autonuke" and let it be for a few hours.

?

Is there no "boot from USB" option on your BIOS? Or is it just being plain arrogant?

When lyfe gives you HDDs, make SSDs

Alright....

Check if you have LEGACY SUPPORT enabled in your BIOS....if not, it will be UEFI

Also check if you have USB boot enabled (obviously)

if no dice for both

Get into recover/safe/whatever_they_call_it_these_days   mode by pressing shift and the power button in the start menu simultaneously

Go into trouble shoot

You should see something like boot devices

click on it and check for the option boot into USB (all this with the USB device plugged in)

If there is such an option, click on it, and select  boot via USB EFI

You should be booting into our USB right now, else....Razer probably doesnt allow it for reasons who knows what

Hey there :)

There are a number of ways to format your drive:

- With the installation drive of the OS that you are going to use on the new drive. You can simply use the set-up wizard to format your current drive.

- Booting from Linux Live CD (Thumb Drive or a CD/DVD).

- Connecting the drive to another system as a secondary one and then format it.

- Connect the drive externally via a SATA to USB cable like this one

- Connect the drive with an external enclosure.

- Connect it via a docking station.

You could contact the manufacturer for help with the USB booting problems, but I'd first check the BIOS settings and make sure the drive is visible there and it's listed in the boot order.
