noticed something strange

hi.

 

today i wanted to boot up my pc. It didn't with no light,fan activity. i jammed the power button serveral times at it still didn't turn on. I thought the pc was dea, so i unplugged everything for a couple of minutes and went on google to search what's wrong. after a few minutes i reconnected the power cable and this time, it did boot.

 

WTF happend here?

Did you accidentally bump the power switch on the back? its got an I and O on it. check to see if that didnt flip to the O position.

power cable could have been pulled out a bit?

perhaps you didnt notice it  could have been unplugged almost   probably by a pet or something?

Front panel headers might have been plugged in wrong.

the issue is undoubtedly a bridge issue on the power switch. the best solution would be to get into the bios and check that the electron positivity is still valid on the comm port for power over the south bridge

i replugged it a few times. no luck but after leaving it out for some time it solved the problem.

 and how do i do that?  by checking the power for the south bridge? i know my way around the bios. but i am not (yet) an hardcore computer expert

i checked everything on the board. gave all the cables a push. didn't work

what power supply do you have?

what motherboard do you have

one from Ewent: 550 Watt. I know this is not an known manufacure and i think i should contact them?

Update: i think it's not the psu. After putting the system in stand-by it wouldn't resume from it. I switched the Power Button on the psu and now it's having the same problem as before. Earlyer in the Windows logs it complained about damaged firmware.

 

 

update 2: it was the psu after all

i replaced my old factory psu witch is a merly 180 watt. but the pc responded immediately to the power button so it's not the firmware ()

At least you know now and  and good you caught it now before it tore up the rest of your system.
