I'm thinking of buying this one http://www.amazon.com/APC-Back-UPS-1400VA-230V-Sockets/dp/B00T7BYPDG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460893854&sr=8-1&keywords=APC+Back-UPS+1400VA+230V

Will it be compatible with my system?

Thank you!

Yes that unit will be good, a bit more larger than needed but will allow for you to have more things plugged into it.

Hello,

My home suffers from alot of power outrages and that's why I want to  buy a UPS - already had to replace my motherboard because of them.

My specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB
SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970
Power: Corsair Builder 600W ATX

Thanks.

How long does it need to last for? Do you want it to be able to run the system at load for a few minutes? Or does it just need to last long enough for the system to shutdown properly?

Check out what Cyberpower and APC have to offer. Take a look at the runtime/wattage graphs and decide what's suitable for your specific needs and then buy whatever you're willing to pay for (I'd aim for something that can sustain at least 400w~ for a few minutes -- or aim a bit higher to account for possible upgrades).

From what I hear, CyberPower is pretty good.  Are you trying to jut make it last so it can properly shut down?

Depending on where your located UPS units from APC or Cyberpower are both good options, something like this would be more than enough for your system including networking equipment and peripherals all together:

Thank you for the suggestion. Maybe I'm asking a stupid question, but how long until the power shuts down? I'd like something that would last an hour at least, the power outages can last pretty long sometimes and I don't want to risk if I'm doing some error-checking or testing on one of my hard drives.

What kind of load will the system be under? 100% load? 50% load? idle (or very low load)? What you're doing on the system will determine how long the UPS will last.

Like I said in my initial post. Look up runtime graphs and pick one that meets your SPECIFIC use case.

As said that would depend on the load that is going to be applied since most UPS's if at full load only last around a few mins. There are extended run time units that can last for a couple of hours at full load but they do cost quite a lot more as that is usually for servers.
