Im looking to buy a gsync monitor. The super crazy specific question I have is will gsync eliminate the screen tearing on dark souls 1 with DSfix? I know gsync fixes screen tearing and I know how it works but since this is a mod on a game that should be running at 60 frames, will gsync fix this issue or is the screen tearing happening from someone else. Please state the monitor you have if you are speaking from experience.

yes gsync fixes screen tearing on mods too

it should fix tearing for everything that comes out of your GPU, modded or not

but if you cap your framerate at 60hz then you will still get tearing, you need either run below 60hz for gsync to do its job or you need to enable vsync

Could you explain that a little more, I might have a weaker understanding that I thought.

for gsync to work and give you a variable framerate your game needs to be running at an fps between 30 and the max Hz of your monitor

if the monitor is max 60hz, then your game needs to run between 30 and 60fps

if the monitor is 144hz, the game needs to run between 30 and 144fps

if the game gets more than that, you will need to enable vsync to prevent tearing (which introduces some lag)

having a variable framerate monitor is a waste if your PC is powerful enough to push max fps above your monitors refresh rate
