Put GPU in second PCI-E slot

I wanted to put my GPU in the second PCI-E x16 slot of the Msi G45. But notice on the photo, the second PCI-E slot (the lowest blue) the tab is like smaller? The second slot is PCI E 2.0 X16. There will be a nearly unnoticeable speed decrease.

It's most likely a slot wired for PCIe 8x.

It is in fact a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. It will fit just fine.

Litle corection my MOBO is the z87 G43 not the Z77A-G45

After doing research on the correct motherboard, it is a 3.0 slot. Putting a card in that slot will cause your top PCIe x16 slot to run at x8 because Haswell has 16 PCIe lanes. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130693
