Well I'd probably end up posting this anyways, you could drop down to a 380X for an SSD, or an i5 if all you're doing is gaming.

Done :( sorry about that

Should go skylake, and a 380 is going to be faster than a 960

don't buy an OEM key if you're going to buy a windows key they get locked to your hardware

you probably don't need a dvd drive

and this display is better, as it's IPS, TN panels that aren't 144hz should all die.

that's a 4gb card, the 970 is the card that basically only has 3.5gbs of VRAM

Also current Nvidia cards aren't supporting DX12 very well, and you're going to save at minimum $150 last I checked with free-sync vs G-sync. Should you buy an adaptive sync display sometime.

or if end up with a 1440p display the 380 is still pretty capable there, for 20 bucks more you could go for a 380X, but probably not worth it if you don't plan to upgrade your display anytime soon.

Alright I'll go with the build you linked me. The monitor is a huge step up and I personally am a fan of the 380. Is the processor in your link a sky lake?

6xxx series CPUs from intel are going to be skylake.

There's also still a bit of room if you want to get like a 120gb SSD for your OS and a few games, about 40 bucks, 60 bucks is for a 240gb drive, but you could always get it later

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sandisk-internal-hard-drive-sdssda120gg25

If you stick to only the 1TB hard drive, make 2 partition when installing your OS, one 300gb, with the rest on it's own, install your OS to the 300gb one and keep all your other stuff on the 2nd partition, that way if you need to reinstall your OS you only have to delete the first partition.

or maybe step up the case to like an N200 or SIlencio 352, same case, one's for tons of airflow, the other is for silence, or any number of other cases

you could also get an ITX PC that would be fairly compact if you want to save desk space

Nothing but options for a desktop PC

IF you were going to buy windows, you'd probably just want a USB retail box

The reviews are about the OS, probably not about the flash drive, just write down the key you get should you ever lose your flash drive, windows 10 isn't as bad as it used to be, though you still have the built in spyware to deal with.

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Home-Flash-Drive/dp/B01019T6O0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459531160&sr=8-1&keywords=Windows+10+USB

Or there's the grey market, which I'd avoid, either pick up a goo covered version from a back alley, or pay full price, as a grey market key may be revoked at any time, and in rare cases it's being used for money laundering. kinguin is the site for that.

just make sure any key you buy is a full retail key

Right also with Windows 10 Home, I don't believe you can control when your PC updates, you can delay updates, but you can never stop them completely, something like that,

*I guess the only thing you can't stop are security updates for Home

The full retail version has saved me a few times from buying another disk.
