Problem with .AVI file

I was editing a project for school using HitFilm 3 Express and I wanted to test it. I exported it as a .AVI file now it is super laggy. Please help!

What's the file resolution, bitrate, and FPS?

As an actual AVI file? If so, it's probably using an arseload of memory.

Shit, I have to show this at school they probably don't have 16Gb of DDR3

Just checked, it's using the disk more than anything.

Can you not render it in a different format or at least with Handbrake?

How do I render it without handbrake (I thought it might be a rendering issue)

On Hitfilm? I dunno, I've never personally used it. That's why I suggested Handbrake to compress it to something more manageable.

Thank you all! Converting it to mp4 worked! I will hopefully get a good grade with something besides my silly antics!
