I am planning on reinstalling Windows due to a motherboard replacement that I am undergoing now, but I wanted to know if programs that I had installed on my secondary internal hard drive will be affected by the Windows reinstall on my C Drive

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Why do you have to reinstall windows?

But to answer your question, it is possible. Depends on the program.

I have seen fresh Windows installs recommended when installing a new mobo, but if there is a way to avoid the reinstall, I'd be happy to try. And I only have Movie Studio Platinum and another program that came along with it that I'm worried about on my external hard drive (*correction, secondary internal drive).

If you have an OEM copy of Windows, you'll have to buy a Windows Home or Pro key to switch MOBOs.

Other than that, all you (should) have to do is physically swap the MOBOs.

Really? Because I've done it once before and I had various windows crashes for unknown reasons so I did a fresh install. It was likely due to drivers that were for the previous board, but I didn't know how to get rid of them

If it does run into issues, let us know. Safe mode might be an option, but again it depends on a lot of factors.
