Any ideas why changing the base clock seem to do nothing at all. ie I set it to 104, boot and it stays at 100.

You should have to hit apply or save settings in your bios if you haven't, or the motherboard may be reverting to stable conditions, but with a z170 and 6600k why not adjust the cpu multiplier for an overclock rather then the blck, and then your ram speeds wouldn't be affected, and a higher overclock can be achieved?

Because I'm the kind of person that likes to tweek everything possible and see what happens.

All my other changes have applied without issue. Currently running cpu 44*100 @ 1.35v, ring 41, ram 3333 @ 1.3v.

Wanted to play around with lower multiplier, higher bclk options, but whenever I boot the bclk is always 100.

you could try to see if it will stay at something like lower like 101 or so, some cpus just don't like to have the bclk adjusted.

Same deal, 101 won't stick. The bios is saving at, as the next time I restart and open bios the adjusted bclk setting is still there, it just doesn't actually effect the actual clock.

Fruistrating...
