CheapAss SSDs

Go to solution Solved by Noyu,

SOLVED.

Plextor because <reason posted in OP>

Good Day! So last time I was asking if upgrading my VERY VERY OLD Laptop to have an SSD would be worth.

Everybody basically said yes.

So now please look at my current choices of SSDs along with their specs page, and price (in PhP, assume 45PhP per USD).

  1. Avexir V1 (2000PhP)
  2. Kingmax SME32 Xvalue (2150PhP) too sketchy, no reviews. marketed "for laptops", weird.
  3. Kingston SSDNow V300 (2200PhP)
  4. ZOTAC 120GB (2200PhP)
  5. ADATA SP550 (2200PhP) removed, TLC
  6. SanDisk X300 (2300PhP) removed, TLC
  7. Plextor M6V (2350PhP) wins, comparable to a Crucial BX100 which costs 1000PhP more.

If you were me, what would you get?

PLEASE DON'T SUGGEST ANYTHING ELSE.

P.S.

  • If it isn't obvious yet, these are all 120-128GB SSDs.
  • Laptop HDD will go to a "2nd HDD Caddy" (DVD Drive turned HDD Slot thingy)
  • My Laptop is a Dell XPS15 L502x
  • OFC my obvious first choice would be the Avexir, since it is the cheapest, and Avexir is a "known" brand to me.

Literally any of these would work just fine and would be completely indistinguishable from each other in 99.99% of all situations.

Because of this, I'll develop a table comparing specifications (as marketed only).

This way I can compare "raw power".

Thanks for the headsup.

EDIT:

Nvm the table. Too hard to develop when you can't find decent reviews of some choices (e.g. Avexir)

get the one with the best return/exchange policy, especially if you are buying in the phils. k have used 3 of those and i cant tell the difference in speed, kingston, sandisk, adata.

i put an adata if my gf's laptop and it has been working perfect for the past few months. she lives in bulacan and everyone uses her computer(she sells internet access)  and there has been no problem with all the read/write stuff going on

if i post a link to amazon try to use the LTT affiliate code to help the channel http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=linustechtips-20

do your research and avoid TLC NAND ones, as SP550 (since I have one)

the Avexir V1 one looks to be MLC, use that as benchmark

Zotac one, again, MLC

SanDisk X300, TLC - skip

Plextor M6V, MLC

Best suggestion so far. Thankyuuuuu
