What wrong with youtube?

Seeing some really pixelated and blurry videos lately. Any ideas as to what this is?

That's probably just how the video's compressed.

It's likely due to the amount of detail in the video.

 

If you didn't know this, YouTube videos are compressed. When you're watching a video, a compression algorithm basically tries to optimize the video quality with the bandwidth allowed. When you have a lot of things going on, it can sometimes become "confused" and you get this blocky effect that you're seeing, and that I've been seeing in a lot of gaming videos. It's been there for a long time.

Thanks for the info. Always good to learn something new. But im now having the same problem with in-game cinematics. very blocky and blurry with occasional screen tears. I just checked ony drivers and theyre all up to date.

 

Any ideas?

Are you talking about in-game cinematics on YouTube or in video games running on your machine?

At first it i noticed it on youtube. Now im noticing it now in games on my machine
